School Libraries in Vietnam: Diagnosis of Current Status and Challenges for the Future

Goal/thesis – to overview the development of school libraries in Vietnam, thereby drawing out advantages, disadvantages, and challenges they face. Methodology critical literature review content analysis source materials. Findings revealed there are disadvantages Vietnam including shortcomings with lack materials, poor infrastructure, inefficient capacity librarian, limited budget. The reasons for these problems due misperception administrators, policymakers, society regarding libraries’ role educational activities schools; library operating hours not optimal; low percentage students reading books newspapers (especially printed documents); small space; oftentimes librarians is poor, and, most all, enough budget allocated libraries. Conclusions recommendations made toward improving Vietnam.
